BUILDING AN EVO
1-Aircraft
grade 6061 aluminum alloy is sawed into billet ingots |
2.Ingots
are heated to 800* prior to forging.
|
3.8
million lbs of forging pressure forces the alloy into
the die. The tremendous pressure creates outstanding grain
structure, density and eliminates porosity in the wheel. |
|
4.The
blank forging is then CNC spun in one of three huge spinning
machines. |
|
|
5-The
blank forging is then CNC lathed in a dual head vertical
turning center that transforms the blank forging into
a 100% CNC machined wheel.
|
|
6-The
wheel is then milled to add the cosmetics and the bolt
circle using has VF-5 high torque CNC mills to exacting
tolerances. |
|
7-The
completed wheel is robot polished. The wheel is then inspected
and "color buffed" by hand.
|
|
8-The
wheel is loaded into a chroming rack to have a six-layer
chrome finish applied. Next stop will be inspection and
then boxing. |
